A Memorial Exhibition for a Private Person
For Rachel Cohen Kedar the exhibition represented the split
second of separation: the moment of death but also
a moment full of life; positive-negative. This point
of disappearance is a one time event in the history
of this private man and for all of humanity. The means
of presentation used by Cohen Kedar at the moment of
disappearance are decrepit furniture: a double bed,
an old armoire, draws for storage alongside copies of simple
home decorations. At first glance it appears to be a bedroom
of tombstones, constructions: the beds are full of
earth, the storage draws and armoire are covered in
earth, as are the stones that fill the children's play
carts. On the other hand, inside these parts of furniture
a process of rebirth is occurring, where the earth
takes an active part in their actuation. |
